I’m welcoming another ace German producer/DJ to the staple, Romanto.

Romanto has long been one of the steady presences in German club culture. Since the early ’90s, the DJ and producer has moved fluidly between soul, funk, disco, house and electronica, always guided by a sharp ear for groove and musical depth. While trends have come and gone, Romanto has remained loyal to a warm, organic sound that continues to carry him onto dancefloors around the world.

He began DJing in the German underground in 1992 and soon turned to production. His early track “Smilin’ Faces” put his name on the map, followed by releases on Kosmo/BMG and collaborations with vocalists like Michael Marshall and Eddie Greene. Along the way, his music found its way onto compilations from Ministry of Sound, Rave & Cruise and Global Underground, spreading his soulful, club-ready style far beyond Germany.

You might have caught Happy Dayz in the dub version on Discoholics Anonymous 6. Here it is in its full glory.

Discoholics Anonymous doesn’t ask for cookies. It slips them into your pocket while you’re not looking, the way clubs used to slip flyers into your coat lining at 4:37 in the morning. Some of them are harmless — the house keys. They keep the lights on, remember who you are, stop the whole thing collapsing when you hit refresh. Without them the site is just a room with no door. The others are curious little spies. They want to know which mixes you stayed for, which ones you ghosted, whether you
