Mannix’ Vienna based Dafia Records has been one of my go-to labels since its inception in 2021. Since day one Dafia has been raising the bar, release for release. This is, yet again, the case with “You’re Never Too Young” with remixes by Moplen, DoctorSoul and Mannix himself.

A self-contained slice of mid-80s UK soul, “You’re Never Too Young” was written by Steve McIntosh and produced in-house by The Cool Notes themselves. It’s the sound of a band in full control of their groove. The track leans into quiet storm territory, pairing softly stepping rhythms with breezy keys and silky vocal interplay. It’s flirtation, finesse, and feel-good wrapped into one.

Originally released in 1984 on Abstract Dance in the UK, it later saw a wider pressing on Germany’s Purple Marble in 1985.

Moplen steps in with a remix that balances dancefloor glide and crate-digger charm in perfect form. Washed in dreamy synth layers and nudged forward by a sly guitar lick, it’s the kind of rework that catches the light just right. Heather Austyn’s vocals float through it all — soulful, effortless, impossible to resist.

Mannix brings the muscle with a full-bodied big room version — bold, strutting, built for mirrorballs and midnight highs. DoctorSoul goes deeper, prescribing a full re-therapy session that flips the energy without losing the soul. There’s even a dub tucked in for good measure.

If this doesn’t find its way onto your summer playlist, you’re either asleep — or a fool.

Out on Traxsource 13th June 2025.
