In 2025, Ilya Santana revisited the glittering trails of late-70s space disco with his Conqueror of the Unknown EP, opening the collection with a reimagined version of Zoom’s 1980 cult classic “Flying High.” Originally the lead track on Delta Flight—a now-rare Spanish disco gem released by Polydor—“Flying High” embodied the effervescent optimism and cosmic energy of the twilight disco era.
Santana’s rework stretches its orbit, layering in atmospheric synthwork and celestial flourishes that amplify the original’s hypnotic drive. This rework stands as both a tribute and a bold reentry, seamlessly blending archival glow with forward-facing sound design.
