Andy Buchan has been a go-to-editor for me ever since I came across his incredible edits back in 2019.
Buchan was wildly successful on Bandcamp, apart from his edits on his own Hot Gorilla Records, Peppermint Jam, Hot Digits, Midnight Riot, Paper Disco, Sprechen, Disco Fruit, Alpaca Edits, Citizens of Vice, Masterworks Music, Chopshop, Rare Wiri, Editorial Records, Thunder Jam Records, Spa In Disco and Golden Soul. But these days you’d be a fool to miss out on all the crazy good edits he’s flaunting on his Patreon.
So, I had a pretty big Bandcamp following several years ago – and then got hit with a take down, and overnight, everything went. I’d seen a few other editors start on Patreon, and liked that it seemed a bit safer with regards to take downs.
What I love about Patreon is that I can build a community – there are over 500 free members at the moment, and over 90 paid members; they give me feedback and they can request tunes I edit. And with the different payment tiers, I can make it as good value as possible – times are tight at the moment, so I really try to make everything super affordable. I’m always amazed that people have been with me for over 2 years on Patreon from the start, others come in and grab what they want and some pay up front for a year’s access – it’s a flexible platform and has been a great way to carry on making edits which I truly love doing.

So, what’s all this Patreon business then?
Tiers
Andy Buchan offers three subscription tiers on his Patreon:
- Tier 1 (£4/month) gives supporters access to 3–5 new edits each month. All are exclusive, fully mastered WAVs that aren’t available anywhere else.
- Tier 2 (£6/month) includes everything from Tier 1, plus access to all his personal and label promos, upcoming remixes, and official releases.
- Tier 3 (£9/month) is the full-package tier: all monthly edits and promos, plus around 15–20 tracks from his back catalogue each month. As a bonus, new subscribers get two months of back catalogue access for free — essentially three months for the price of one.
What’s Exclusive?
All content on Andy’s Patreon is exclusive. His edits aren’t available elsewhere, except for a few select freebies on Soundcloud. One of the most appreciated features by followers is the ability to request custom edits — something Andy genuinely enjoys. He describes it as a great way to glimpse into supporters’ music collections and discover new tracks to work with.
Biggest Successes on Patreon
The Choir edits have been some of the most popular edits (I basically find fun choir versions and work them in/over the top of classics from Bowie, Daft Punk, Talking Heads etc). The struggle is finding enough good choir versions that work, but they’ve been really popular.

The sheer scale of support has been one of the biggest achievements — with nearly 800 members joining over the past few years. Some subscribers drop in for just a month, others pay upfront for the full year, and many have stayed on for the long haul. Given Andy’s more alternative and eclectic taste in edits, he’s found a loyal audience that resonates with his unique style — and through their edit requests, they help broaden his musical palette each month.
