This is a Jazz-Funk anthem that was initially impossible to play in a mixed DJ set because its beat was fluctuating.. So I have stabilized it at 106 bpm. I of course have fully rebuilt it with my sorcerer sound, there is a new drum beat and a 2nd bass. Finally the production has been fully remastered.
So now it’s ready to rock your party ! 👍😄

Donald Byrd’s “(Fallin’ Like) Dominoes” is the kind of groove that doesn’t just walk into the room—it glides. Lifted from his 1975 crossover triumph Places and Spaces, this track is pure Mizell Brothers magic: slick production, soul-soaked horns, and a rhythm section locked in like a heartbeat on a mission.
Forget jazz purism—this is Byrd leaning hard into the future, where funk, soul and jazz swirl into something made for both introspective nights and sweaty dancefloors. Chuck Rainey on bass, Harvey Mason on drums, the whole thing shines with studio precision and streetwise elegance.
“Dominoes” became canon—sampled, spun, and sanctified by DJs, diggers and heads who know exactly where the groove lives. This is spiritual jazz-funk with a silk collar and a purpose: to move you.
As always with the good DoctorSoul the sound is sensational and the attention to detail is sublime.
